Cuse Problem

SU will make a formal announcement regarding a new 5 year deal with Mr. Hopkins future in the coming days.

I know Hopkins is probably capable of keeping up the defensive strategy there, and does a lot of the recruiting, but I just don't see top kids going there for him once he finally takes over.

They will still go for the Dome. And the SEC-style boosters that still populate greater Central New York.

It'll definitely be an initial challenge for him. There's definitely a big difference between selling a kid to play for Jim Boeheim and selling a kid to play for yourself (Norm Roberts can vouch for this). But at the end of the day, Syracuse is one of those schools that kind of sells itself. It's got such a great history and loyal fanbase. I'd be surprised if he is unsuccessful once he takes over.

Pretty messed up and be ncaa can't get their act together in time to not screw over the life of a kid.

If anything, they did the kid a favor by not having to live in Syracuse in wintertime.

Aside from that, I think issues like these are what schools should threaten to pull out from the NCAA for, not over things like more football money. A kid should be eligible if the NCAA hasn't found anything by the first day of school. Too big a caseload? Oh well, hire more workers.

I hate Syracuse as much as anyone, but this is bullsh*t. Some schools in Africa are taught in freaking caves. The NCAA is an absolute joke and they are really hurting this kid's future. How about some common sense out of them on these types of issues?

Diagne headed to Florida State

Oops, I mean .................. Northwest Florida State

I think there's just as good a chance of him playing at FSU as there is Syracuse. I think he's up for grabs now.

We'll know in two years. Kid announced he was going JUCO a week ago. Syracuse will now start their penalty phase of their last NCAA investigation since they're down to 10 scholarship players next year. Now they'll have only 10 for the next 4 years, or was it 3.

They won the JUCO championship last yr. Head coach Steve DeMeo, former assistant coach under Timmy Welsh at PC. Accused, but never convicted, sexual assault specialist Brandon Austin ( ala PC & Oregon) on the team as well.

It wasn't much fun living there other times of the year also. No pity for SU from me. In fact, I enjoy seeing SU get screwed by the NCAA. Let the bozos at the NCAA pick on them for awhile. Maybe they will stop screwing around with St. John's kids.
