Been told that the likelihood is that SJU will not likely be hearing from Repole again, or at best for a very long time.
Of interest is that one of the guys Repole mentioned by name in the Fraschilla interview that he demanded resign from the board of trustees just made a $10 million gift to the university. The College of Professional Studies is not named the Leslie and Bill Collins School of Professional Studies. This incredibly generous gift is in addition to other gifts already made in excess of $1 million.
Repole stated that he wanted to donate $10 million to renovate Carnesecca Arena. Don't hold your breath.

I hope that's not true, because if this is the new normal with other schools getting their high-powered alums to offer top recruits big endorsement deals and we don't have his firm backing, we are screwed IMO. We need Repole now more than ever and I hope he realizes that. He can literally sway top 50 recruits to come here with his connections.
Mike, There are many others that have done far more for the university than Mike Repole. No question that you want to keep highly successful alumni in the fold in terms of supporting the school monetarily, but most schools will draw the line as to what type of authority donors can have over decisions the school makes. Repole clearly stepped over whatever that line is, and in doing so had some private meltdowns with school administrators and board members, and one very egregious public one designed to embarrass the school. While he is one of our wealthiest alumni, his generosity to date has been a very small part of the $500 million to $1 billion that his is worth, and many others have been far more generous without making demands.
I hope that bridges are mended because you are right, we need our most successful alumni to support the school. For some reason the owner of the Tamp Bay Rays, who is a SJU grad, has rejected any overtures by the school to even accept interns from our school. So it does happen, and there is only so much SJU can do.
I'm pretty confident that those bridges will be mended as soon as Bobby G retires. The next president may just be someone Repole and many here are very fond of.
