Greg was just named as an assistant coach of the Phoenix Suns! Congratulations to him! Great guy and a great young coach. He loves SJU and while here lived a couple of blocks from campus so he could always be around. He has NBA HC written all over him, but perhaps one day will return here as HC. I

From the press release:

St. Jean joins the Suns following two seasons as an assistant coach with the Dallas Mavericks from 2021-2023. During that time, he was a member of the Mavericks’ coaching staff that defeated the Suns to reach the Western Conference Finals in 2022. Before joining Dallas’ bench, St. Jean spent two seasons as a player development coach and advance scout for the Lakers, including on Vogel’s staff that won an NBA Championship in 2020.
Prior to joining the Lakers’ staff, St. Jean was an assistant coach for four seasons at St. John’s University where he helped the Red Storm improve their win total in each of his four seasons. He also spent two years as assistant player development coach for the Sacramento Kings and first worked in the NBA as a basketball operations and video intern with the Brooklyn Nets. As a collegiate player, St. Jean was a three-year team captain at Wesleyan University

Beast has it right . Greg St Jean did a outstanding job during his time here at St Johns . He has the pedigree and DNA to become a Head Coach at any level, NBA or College .

It would be a possibility that one day , Greg might return to St John’s as a HC .
Greg really seriously wanted the HC job and interviewed for it. There was close to zero chance of him getting it given the circumstances, but i will tell you that he was the only assistant retained after Mullin and staff departed and he nearly singlehandedly dealt with player's uncertainties and their parents. He gets all the credit for the kids that stayed. Every returning player lobbied for him to be hired.

I wished him well when CMA got the job, and he did tell me he loved St. John's and he would be back here some day. To this day he is still a huge Johnnie's fan. I would say his future most likely will be as an NBA coach but also think he would make a damned fine coach here some day.

But pause for a moment and think how incomplete our lives would have been without the brilliance and eloquence of Making Plays.
Well you got to make plays to win lol. But even my 10 year old can come up w a better game plan . Besides just give me 3 minutes as Anderson would say. Would have liked to give st jean the job. Young guy hard worker who was the only coach on our team outside of Matt who did the recruiting
