Congrats to Moe, Rookie of the Year

Congrats to Moe, you've done NYC & St. John's proud. The first of many awards he & this group will hopefully win in the coming years. Kudos to Lavin also, in his second year we already have an NCAA appearance, a top recruiting class (even if they didn't all pan out) and now the first Big East Rookie Award since David Russell.  Throw in Kim Barnes Arico winning Big East Women's Coach of the Year and STJ hoops seems to have a very bright future.

Congrats to Moe. Seems to be a great kid who truly deserves this honor.

I look forward to watching Moe stomp through the NCAAs next year.

Hopefully in the future we will fondly look back and remember him as the kid who got the ball rolling for this program again.

He has been a joy to watch develop on the court.

 Congratulations, Moe!

First Johnny since David Russell ... Wow, but that's a long dry spell! Here's hoping our incoming players will be winning a lot more of these over the next few years.

wish they could have found a way to split the award with mo and dh...i mean dh is third in be in scoring. Wtg mo. U have made us all proud

Thought Barkley split the award with Troy Murphy

Congrats to the Rookie of the Year - Moe harkless!!!!! from St Johns
The Queens guy makes us proud~~~

Well-deserved honour for Mo. Congrats.

Even with the players we didn't get to academics, this has been a stellar freshman class. Harkless and Harrison have been stars, but the Greene, Garrett and Pointer have exceeded my expectations and even Gift has had his moments.

Looking forward to seeing what this group (along with Branch and new recruits) do next season.

Gotta admit, Pointer is the only one who didn't exceed my expectations.

Moe fits the definition of a blue chipper in every way. As Harrison said he can do everything I can and he's 6'8" plus. I think having to play big this year was a blessing for his pro prospects and I doubt we'll hear that he's soft just because he can play from the perimeter. Next year hopefully he can refine his SF skills and hit the lottery the year after. What a great success story for SJU. Hopefully D Lo will follow shortly thereafter. All we need now is live bodies to join the fold. C mon Steve. Land what we need to go over the top.

Bobre's most positive post yet, or at least lately. Spot on too.. Moe did himself a big service by getting time in the post this season instead of just cruising the perimeter heaving treys. He can expand that part of his game starting next season, but overall he did himself great service with his role this season, showing he can also clean the glass and block shots.

I think that unfairly maybe, Pointer saw his stock rise too much late in 2011 with respect to rankings. I think Pointer originally was and should have been a top 80-100 kid. I think he did a great job this year in a ton of ways. I'm just looking for him to refine his offense a bit. Soooo many times he has the positioning and athleticism to take his man off the dribble and doesn't yet. Give him sie time. He'll be a glue guy for 4 years here, doing just about everything on the court.
