Congrats to Coach Keady!

I figured this post was an April Fool's congratulating Keady on an announcement that he and his new bride were expecting a child.

Congratulations to a great all-time coach that we are lucky enough to have in our program.

Excellent news and Congratulations to Coach Keady, well-deserved honor.

He should be in the Springfield BB Hall of Fame too!

The "reporter" got it wrong. Mentions Coach Keady has 4 NCOY honors, when he actually had 6! Could used Wiki - shoddy work all around every day...

I could not believe it when I read that he had won 6 NCOY awards...that is amazing

Did the writer research any of these greats AT ALL? Being a UCLA fan, I love this: "The Class of 2013 also includes Marques Johnson, who led the Bruins to their final title under Wooden in 1975, when he was also National Player of the Year". There was a national POY on that '75 Bruin team (one outlyer picking him over David Thompson's senior season) in UCLA All American and Captain David Meyers. 2nd leading scorer and leading rebounder was Richard Washington. Marques Johnson was the 3rd leading scorer and 3rd leading rebounder as a UCLA sophomore that season. He WOULD go on to become the first Wooden Award Winner as National Player of the Year - but that would be two years later in 1977......

And the story doesn't come close to doing justice to HOW great Elvin Hayes was in college....

You are 100% correct in that assertion. Hayes was THAT good, and often overlooked as one of the best NBA players of all time.

The Hayes-Alcindor matchups in college were about as close to the drama as a heavyweight boxing match as you can get in college basketball.

Well put, Beast.

As for the Original Coach K, it's a recognition loooong overdue.

Agree on the Big E, Elvin Hayes. used to love his turn around bank shot. Question is what took so long?
