Combine Invites

Didn't invites go out today? When do they become public? Curious if Shamorie received an invite. I feel like a selfish jerk for hoping that he did not.

He will get one, I am sure Mullin would have known if one wasn’t coming. I also think he will be back.

Actually, combine invitations went out on Friday. I haven't heard any news on Ponds regarding an invitation.

Per Zags a few minutes ago, Ponds has not yet received an NBA Combine invite but several NBA teams have reached out re: workouts, per sources. Sounds like the invites have been going out in "waves".

The combine and individual team workouts are different things. I would imagine all combine invites went out in one shot.

Edit: Maybe I'm wrong about the process. Apparently only 1 Kentucky player got their invite already. Seems weird...

Shamorie is an incredible talent. That said, I'd be shocked if he's an NBA 1st round pick and very surprised if he gets tabbed in the 2nd round.
While it's obviously best for St. John's that he returns for the 2018-19 season, i think it's also best for Shamorie's future as well.
Given that Ponds does not fit the prototypical NBA body mold for a PG, he has things to work on despite some scintillating performances last season.
In my humble view, the risk is that Shamorie--so anxious to become a pro--leaps into the unknown and becomes one more piece in the 'pro' wilderness circuit.
IF he's to be a 1st round pick--then so be it. And I'd be very happy for this deserving kid.
Otherwise, I hope he gets wise counsel and returns for a stellar junior year.
