Just finished perusing the book "Color Him Orange" : The Jim Boeheim Story by Scott Pitoniak
What surprised me is the lack of mention of St. John's. All over the book are references to
Georgetown, Thompson, Villanova, Massimino Dean Smith, Valvano, Abatemarco the Big East
etc. Yet not one mention of Lou Carnesecca, or St. John's or Mullin for that matter. Incredible
that this would slip by in 250 pages, it would almost have to be deliberate. Could this author or Boeheim
himself have a H----n for the Johnnies. If this is how he feels get lost and go hang with your
boys in the ACC
Maybe Orange should be the new "Black"

No more Syracuse discussion on this board unless it's about how we are going to absorb all the tickets for the game this year LOL. , I'm going to throw up now when I see anything orange

Seriously, I saw the book and just glanced thru it once at a Barnes & Noble, went home later and disinfected my hands.

How many posts until a joke about someone?
Referring to our AD? :)

Maybe if he got a real sun instead of an artificial, his head could be our new mascot.

I guess if Boeheim edits this book, there would be references to St. John's. Over time, he has said complimentary things about our program and school. To be honest though, we really haven't a competitor of Syracuse for quite some time, so historically the Big East provided better year-in, year-out foes.

The 1986 Big East Tournament Championship game was one of the best with a fantastic finish. Maybe he just hates remembering it as they came up on the losing end.

Seriously, nothing with him or that program surprises me.

Where is the rule stating that Boeheim's book must mention us? It's pretty arrogant on your behalf to be surprised that a book about a coach from another school did not mention us at all. We haven't really been relevant for quite some time now, and you make it sound like we are this almighty power program that everyone should be talking about all the time...

Not at all. No skin off my back either way. Just curious as to a non mention especially when their are references to perifhery all
over. Especially when it's a team that you have played for over 40 consecutive years.

Even though Villinova won the NCAA in 85 . Syracuse ,Georgetown and SJU were the cream of the BE in the 80s.. WE had a great rivalry w them in the 80s and had some great games. No law says SJU must be mentioned, but its hard to phanthom why they aren't.

Maybe because the 80s were 30 years ago?

30 years?.....maybe so...
but some of us have worked hard to block out everything that has happened since; so it seems like
just a "little while" ago...Let's Go Redmen1

Just a guess but, it's possible any reference to SJU might have been edited out in such a short book? And, our relevance as a competitive opponent for SU ceased after the Artest team in 98-99..

It's just amazing that we have been so irrelevant in College BB for the last 14-15 years.. Even the Hatten team was only NIT material.

Wait as another poster suggested yesterday Lenn Robbins kept STJ relevant during the Norm era
