As some of you may know, Katia Passerini, Ph.D., PMP, The Lesley H. and William L. Collins Distinguished Chair and Dean of The Lesley H. and William L. Collins College of Professional Studies (CCPS), has been appointed Provost and Executive Vice President of Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ.

I would like to congratulate Dean Passerini on her many accomplishments at St. John’s University, and wish her well as she begins a new chapter in her professional career at Seton Hall.

Glenn Gerstner, Ed.D. ’89SVC, Senior Associate Dean of Faculty, will serve as Interim Dean of CCPS. To ensure a smooth transition during these challenging times, Dr. Gerstner has agreed to begin his term as Interim Dean on May 1, 2020, one month earlier than previously announced. Please join me in thanking Dr. Gerstner for accepting this important leadership position and wishing him the best of luck.

Yes...but it when it was St. Vincent's College.

Email address came from alumni@stjohns.edu and in the email the heading said both St. John's University and below it said Lesley H. and William L. Collins College of Professional Studies

Didn't have any person's name at bottom of email which was odd miss by them.

Seems like a big loss as she was driving much needed change.

On another note, last night, my daughter got an email invite for a virtual webinar with St. John's admissions office for today (less than 24 hr notice). She was surprised as they never email or send anything in paper mail. She registered, got confirmation email and link. Today, she clicks on link 10 min before start, and it doesn't let her in with error message saying they don't have her email address to confirm her, which is bogus because I saw her type it in when registering and she got both the invite and original registrationconf email w/ link sent to her email. It's the little things like this that drive me crazy with St. John's. Who sends out an invite for the first time less that 24 hrs before event? Then screws up the link where she couldn't even attend. I see how other schools have been managing admissions process emails, events since last summer, and during this pandemic time and St. John's really leaves a lot to be desired admissions wise vs. other catholic colleges both in & out of area. Hard, because my daughter has interest but just still seems that they miss the mark in ways that are just too easy.

Likely St. John's and/or Collins. Leans towards communications, laguages/global and possibly sociology.

She clearly wants no part of STEM even though she does well in those classes, just no interest at least directly. Similarly, she has not expressed interest in business related areas, even though she's pretty analytical and structured.

I've met with Dr. Paserini a few times. She was a great hire and not surprised she had this opportunity.

She is very bright, personable. And engaging. She is also not a career academician. She had a successful business career, and understands and respects business people. When i met with her she was interested in hearing opinions on one of their programs. She has a way of treating you like a peer, which is a great attribute.

This happens sometimes when you hire well. Bobby has hired some really great administrators to lead the university. Hopefully can find a great replacement.
