I had a very small amoutn of time to kill during the tail end of a business trip to Kansas City, so I visited the College Basketball experience, which includes the College Basketball HOF. The Hall itself is an impressive room, dimly lit with the award plaques in etched lucite and backlit. With a relatively small number of inductees, was great to see both Coach Carnesecca and Chris Mullin as inductees. I didn't have time to see if there were othe SJU inductees as I was very short on time.
In another part of the museum, they list in sequence the most winning college programs of all time. Despite our obvious slip over the past 15 years, it still felt good to see SJU prominently displayed as the number 7 program of all time in wins.
All in all an impressive building. The guy who worked the door selling tickets knew college basketball, and told me he met Chris Mullin last year when Mullin was inducted, and his teenaged daughter, who introduced him. Said both were very classy people.
Kind of cool to know despite all of our griping here, to be reminded that SJU DOES have a prominent place in college basketball history.
