Mullin.

Pitino has no buyout. Donovan won't have a buyout. If either of these guys are actually available they are a bargain compared to paying for lesser coach who comes with buyout. The math between years of fallout from bad (weak) decision vs going for a big time coach and invigorating the program is also good. Just takes a little effort to understand that. Beautify the "front porch" raises everything.

weak leaders fear excellence instead of embracing it like cockroaches running from light.

I would say to get Donovan here they'd have to go in with nearly their best price if he were available. To me, $5 mm per.

Until Pitino shows up on campus for an interview, I won't believe he is really interested.

Does anyone know if they have reached out to Mike Rhoades? He was a heady Division 3 SG, successful Div 3 head coach, Assoc. Head coach at VCU during their NCAA run, turned around a broken Rice U program with 23 wins in his third year (2nd most ever at Rice), and replaced Shaka Smart at VCU and went to NCAA's in his second year. His team seemed to improve a lot this year from when we eked out a win over them early in the season to when they made the NCAA's. He's 48. Any reason not to check him out?

I heard Oliva authorized Cragg to offer $750,000, but Oliva gets to pick two of the assistants.

Highly doubt that Donovan would leave an NBA head coaching gig for us. Heck, not many leave the NBA for gigs at any college.

And even if he would be, I'm sure he wouldn't talk to us now, being that the Thunder are in the playoffs as we speak.

The reason for his name is if they lose 1st round this year it would be 3rd straight 1st round exit. Likely on the chopping block per most OKC/NBA people.

OKC is down 2-0 and has 2 home games coming up this weekend. They could be eliminated by Sunday.

Since we may not hire anybody else before Sunday (and all the candidates suck), should the school just wait and see?

After these past few days, Bobby and Joe have an enormous amount of pressure to get things right. If the $$$ is there it's still possible to hit a home run rather than go for a bunt single. I'd say call up Repole and ask about Donovan. Swallow your pride and do it, you'll need him at some point regardless.
