Coaches Perspective on CBS

Lavin was part of the 10 coaches on the panel. I believe that Lavin probably did not belong on this panel. His accomplishments to date did not measure up to the rest of the panel. I felt that he might have been a bit uncomfortable surrounded by such successful coaches. Hopefully one day he will warrant being on such a prestigiuous panel.

Arguable point even if you take it purely on accomplishments, but regardless a pretty douchey comment. Who better for a retrospective than a coach directly connected to three of the greatest coaches in college bball history and one who has interacted as an analyst/commentator with most all of them who were alive in the past 15 years +/-?

And Shaka Smart was more deserving?? He had one magical/improbable run and you think he was deserving to be on there?

Listen, nobody is happier than me that we have a coach like Steve Lavin. I just felt that he looked slightly uncomfortable seeing that maybe he was the only one chosen who did not go to a Final Four. Just an observation, nothing more.

Yes, I'm sure he felt very uncomfortable an inadequate with an elite 8 and 5 sweet 16's under his belt. C'mon. Is this thread a joke? Lavin has just re-started his coaching career h at SJU but was one or two injuries away from a national championship or two at UCLA. He was one of the most successful young coaches in the business before being fired after one losing season. Can't believe this thread is even coming up.

For some perspective, I think Boeheim made his first final 4 over 2 decades into his career in something like his 27th season. People need to give Lavin a few years before elevating expectations to absurd proportions.

i guess you were too young to remember keith smarts buzzer beater in the ncaa final in the 80s

Is there gonna be a re-run of this or is there anywhere to watch it online?

I hope so, because I don't think I've ever seen him uncomfortable on TV.

We are fortunate to have Coach Lavin. End of the discussion. We are fortunate to have improved facilities and generous donors. We are fortunate to have witnessded a significant rise in recruiting. We lose one here or there. We're not the the top twenty (yet). So what. I'm having fun.

The good times are ahead and at hand.

all the best and a pleasant year ahead for all

Pretty much a lazy, BS post, seeing as how you don't bother to list the other coaches on the panel.....But I'm GUESSING there there aren't many of the of tjhe other 9 guys who've taken their teams to the Sweet 16 or beyond 5 times - 63% of the seasons they've been coaching, or won 21 or more games in 88% of their full seasons as head coaches.

But again, I can't be sure, can I?

Yeah he looked so uncomfortable there scratching his face.........

Actually, Lavin almost never touched his face while on ESPN. Doing so in public conversation has long been associated with feeling uncomfortable. Why, we cannot speculate. Maybe he had to pass water 2 hours earlier and had to hold it in for his turn in the interview. LOL!
CRGreen may find the following interesting:
"A professor from UCLA performed a study that indicates 55% of communication comes from body language and only 7% from the words we use."
Tark and his sucking on his towel.......coach Wooden and the rolled notes in his hands.....Fran Franschilla holding his crotch.......etc.

That was definitely the face scratch of a person looking to resign from their current position to take the USC job.

Quick, everyone panic!

He told Jermaine Lawrence that even during the segment that he is so focused on Jermaine that he's be thinking about him and to prove it during the segment he was going to touch his face as a secret message to Jermaine

You know what? I actually wouldn't put that past him.
