ESPN is reporting Coach K will retire at the conclusion of Dukes 2021-22 seasons.

5 NCAA Titles and 12 Final 'Four appearances.  More to come.

Update word is they are going to name Jon Scheyer as "Coach in Waiting"

Jon Scheyer set to be named Coach in Waiting.  So in 2022-23 Jon Scheyer will be coaching Duke and Hubert Davis will be at UNC.

Is Jim Boeheim next...

Scheyer makes sense as a "coach in waiting" but it just seems too coincidental to me that Brad Stevens leaves his coaching position the same day that Coach K announces his retirement.

Duke haters everywhere should be rejoicing.  I am NOT happy about scheyer being named coach-in-waiting....hoping they have a change of heart and make brad stevens a godfather offer at end of next season (and that brad doesnt like only being GM/Pres).

Boeheim will probably leave after both of his sons have exhausted their eligibility

Love him or hate him (and/or his program), Coach K was one of the most consequential non-athlete person in college athletic history.  Likewise for the Duke program.

Looks like Coach K and Duke admin have a better feeling about Scheyer as a HC than our fan base did 2 years ago

The good thing about the handpick successor is there is continuity but doesn’t always worked out. Look at Brian Mahoney.

If Brian had recruited a really good NYC PG like Kareem Reid, God Shamgod, Ed Cota, (not even saying Marbury) then he's still the coach to this day.

THIS IS THE HILL I WILL DIE ON.

I do not remember, did he go hard after any of them?

No!
He was beholden to Mo Brown and Tarik Turner and it led to his downfall.
