Coach Jack Kaiser

Legend.
A true St. John's man.
And remember....when Gavitt came up with the idea of the Big East, he went to Kaiser first for counsel and support.
The rest is history and what binds us all here on redmen.com to this very day.

I only met him a few times, during his final year as AD. This was around 94-95.

He would come by baseball field or auxiliary gym to watch team practice. Most often I would see him when he stopped by Coach Russo's office.

What stands out to me was when the team got selected to represent the US in the Pan American Games in Argentina. It was prior to spring season and the team had really only been practicing inside. It was first time a single college team represented US due to timing, rather than in summer when individual star college players would be selected.

It was one of the last team meetings before they left and recall Kaiser saying some encouraging words to team. I dont recall what he said but remember him just being really proud of them for what they would be doing.
