CMA Statement

We need healing, not more violence.

We need to channel our anger as good united against acts of racial hatred and not be swayed by those who want to divide.

We need leaders who are peacemakers. Mike Anderson is both. Thank you Coach.

Is this really the forum for this? I dont think we need telling people who value life to get their head out of there asses.I suggest we get back to talking St johns and drop comments like this immediately.

Without getting too political, I'll just say that there's been a leadership void on a number of major levels during this crisis and leaders on local, school, family levels need to be stepping up. The young men on our basketball program are very fortunate to have Coach Anderson in their lives. It's very easy for young black men to find themselves in dangerous situations or make poor choices at this moment. Judging by all we've seen from him so far we should consider ourselves lucky to have a thoughtful, empathetic and yes specifically an older black man with life experience to help these guys channel anger, fear, etc in a safe, healthy way.

With everything going on in the world/country today, I find myself caring less and less about sports, and more and more about humanity. W-Ls mean nothing right now, and human lives mean everything. Never has it been more important to have a man like CMA at the helm of our basketball program. A man of character and integrity, A voice of calm and reason, at a time of tumultuousness. Things happen for a reason. We may not see it initially, but we'll see it eventually. CMA is the right man, at the right time in the right place.

I can not say this any better. I am so proud to have CMA as the leader and face of our program especially now when so many things transcend what happens on the court.
