CMA Interview

Great interview. I think we're going to see a very different Mustapha this year - sounds like he is relishing being the team leader and he appears to be in phenomenal shape. If Josh Roberts continues to develop (and Coach had good things to say about him), we will be ok up front once Steere becomes eligible in late December. In the meantime, maybe Damien can help bridge the gap.

Well said. Maybe even use Champagnie as a big in some smaller lineups depending on who they're playing? Once Steere is available I'll breath easier. Grateful he's misssing the the first part of the season rather than conference games. Last year we got bullied down low by teams like Xavier, Providence & DePaul. We don't need Steere, Roberts & Sears to be world beaters but at the very least we need them to be tough SOB's who won't let the bigger, more physical teams take our lunch money again.

Earlington showed some promise at the end of last season and has the strength to be a tough SOB and a contributor against the more physical teams

CMA had entire team and Cole over to his house last evening. Success is all about winning games and this season will be challenging. That said, his commitment to engendering a family philosophy, discipline and tough love will likely translate to a successful tenure in time and positively impact his players for life imo.

As in clumsy and awkward as last years coach search was it appears that StJohn's hired the right guy as its head men's basketball coach; someone with experience, a strong work ethic, and a good and decent man.

Yeah I think that’s why Anderson is s good fit at SJU and will probably appreciate it as well. SJU has always been more of a mom n pop place with a family atmosphere. I think it keeps some of our identity as a program. Success I believe with follow with consistent effort and a true game plan.

Definition of a real coach. Not a carpetbagger.

That's great.

I remember Jarvis & his wife would have the team over for meals and hangouts. Not sure if any others did

Since you love hearing this i can tell you that Joey T is also a proponent of the team dinners/ lunches at his house with his family. However, this weekend was not an opportune time to have such an event with the recruit from Montreal as Mrs T is scheduled to give birth to their fourth child this week. Wishing them the best of luck these next few days.

I'm almost 100% sure Norm did team dinners at his house.

Lav lived in Soho and I think he preferred dinners at restaurants.

I don't think there were ever reports of Mullin hanging out with the team outside of practice or games...

“Vince Cole said it opened his eyes when entire team went to Mike Anderson's house Saturday night. Showed how close team is getting. ”

Someone reported that Ian Steere made a MTV Cribs like video when he was at the Mike Anderson house dinner. Has anyone seen the video and where can we view it?

It was on Ian Steere's Instagram story which means it is gone after 24 hours. It was a video of him showing the team walking around the "common area" of the building with a pool table, golf simulator and movie room. FWIW, the guys need to work on their golf swings, they didn't look too good in the videos

Rather they work on their hoop skills ;) :) they can worry about their golf swings after their playing days are over.
