Is it limited to status as a student or could it be a question of status as an amateur? Is thee a possibility of benefits recieved in a foreign cfountry?

Good point.

Very difficult to prove if so. I don't think he was in a pro league like Kanter or anything. My guess is they are trying to comb through his transcripts prior to Juco but not sure.

One has to question the validity of that statement given Sanchez's heartfelt post on facebook a few hours ago that a decision he made three years ago has come back to bite him in the a**

So much for this being about classsification not eligibility.

It could still be classification. If he was ruled to have done something and lost a year and only had a year to begin with then its classification.

I think the point being overlooked by too many is the word eligibility being thrown around especially when compared to last year. Both are eligible to play D1 Basketball academically and are enrolled, practicing, etc.... This is not last year when the three kids never got that chance because they weren't eligible.

If you know something, spill the beans. :)

And was wasn't this vetted at the JUCO level if it indeed was 3 years ago?

You think they really care on the JUCO level :)

I only know that Sanchez recently posted a very disheartening post in spanish on his facebook acct about recently receiving some bad news and lamenting a decision he made three years ago that is now going to cost him.

I'd say the odds are either he found out something bad re: eligibility or he just learned he's a father. Here's hoping it's the latter.

Also folks in the know on the Jungle are saying that they had word that Sanchez was likely going to be declared ineligible this past weekend

I dont like to play w semantics, but the way I see it is if he has 1 or 2 years left, that is classification, If the question is ,is he going to be able to play at all? that is eligibility.

Getting the feeling that Sanchez will not be playing for us.

Don't know anything to back it up, but it arguably points in that direction.

Certainly hope I'm 100% wrong.

Your right. His eligibility could have expired. But he still could be eligible to play in the light we have come to known so much in the past few years (Pelle, Amir, Karr)

I feel you're right. I think we prepare without him. I think we get a year out of Marco. I feel they should suit up GG and Felix. We are going to need a ton of athleticism this year.

If anything coach was using semantics when he said it was a classification issue not elidgibility.
He probably meant it wasn't an academic issue. Which is fine, but then say that.

Elidgibility and being cleared both mean you can play. Neither Marco or Orlando have been cleared or are elidgible.
