@jeffborzello: Syracuse's Chris McCullough has a torn ACL in his right knee and will miss the remainder of the season.

Shame.

Gee ruined my entire day!

Lol well even speaking from a purely selfish standpoint it's not really good news for SJU because it may be the difference in a quality win. But it's not like this will make or break our tournament hopes.

Totally irrelevant.

Hoping for a speedy recovery for Chris.

Shame, don't like to hear anyone getting hurt. Wonder how it effects his draft status for next year.

He was a late 1st round pick. I can imagine he stays projected in the first round. I imagine he has to return now.

How is it totally irrelevant? Right now SJU has 0 top 50 wins. This could be one, but he was a big part of their team.

EDIT: Syracuse moved up to 44 today, but I don't think that'll stay.

Wasn't Syracuse ranked when we played them?

No they were just outside the rankings though.

Adam, I'm with you on this. It's not irrelevant where Syracuse finishes in the RPI when it comes to our own RPI. Road wins over top 50 teams matter, and we can use as many as we can get. If this injury makes Cuse worse (and that is an if given how poorly he's played lately) and they finish out of the top 50, then it impacts us to some degree.

Regardless, I hate to see an injury like this and agree with 98 on wishing him a speedy recovery.

Thanks, it absolutely is relevant. We're halfway through the season now, and with the exception of the Providence game, Syracuse is by far our best win.

21 Providence ROAD
46 Syracuse ROAD
74 Saint Mary's HOME
79 Long Beach State HOME

Those are our 4 top 100 wins. Minnesota is now 119.

Again, will this make or break our chances at the tournament? Probably not, but it could if we end up on the bubble. Or cost us a seed placement or two. Last year Georgetown was one of the first out despite having a worse record than us. If they beat DePaul in the BET they would've made it, which nobody thought heading into that game, Although we were a #1 seed in the NIT and they were #4, the NCAA tournament committee didn't consider us close to making the tournament. The difference? Georgetown's big OOC wins. They placed a larger emphasis on that than RPI in this instance.

Syracuse squeaked by Wake Forest at home in OT in their first game without Chris. Personally, I'm rooting for Syracuse the rest of the regular season as long as SJU doesn't implode. Hopefully McCullough comes back at full strength next year and we schedule them again.
