Talking about WVU.

Hmmmmm, five of their top eight players are freshman? It should make for a competitive game. Certainly a potentially winnable one. No excuses for their youth on their side. Let's hope our young Johnnies have not read all the posts on this site which tells them why they should"t be winning, dig deep down and play the way many of us believe they are capable of playing, and win this game.

Excuses? They have the best player in the league in Jones and start 3 or 4 upperclassmen. The situations are not comparable.

Kind of shocking how the paths of the two Jones went in opposite directions.

Kevin - Mt. Vernon - West Va - Possible BE player of the year.

Mookie - Peekskill - Syr - rarely gets off the bench, leaves team in middle of senior season.

I agree. The Mountaineer freshmen have the luxury of being led by two of the best and most experienced (and former SJ targets) in Jones and Bryant. Their guards are all good, especially Jabarie Hinds whom we coveted and Huggins teaches aggressive play and it is evident in the outstanding rebounding from every position.
Unless every young SJ player gives 100% in this game this can get out of hand quickly. They are not a great 3 point team but they can kill you inside. If Gift has to do it alone under the basket we will be in trouble. Unlike WV we do not the luxury of bringing in a couple of highly ranked 6'10 freshmen off the bench.

I don´t remember that Lavin had much interest in Hinds.

Mookie is a Jr.

I think Lav had his 2011 guards in place while Hinds was still undecided. He was originally recruited by the Roberts staff as were Jones and Bryant.
When interviewed in Oct 2011 Hinds said:
"“I got offers from Oklahoma State, UNLV, Wake Forest, Seton Hall, St. John’s, James Madison, Louisville, and a couple more.”
After the Nuri fiasco, not pursuing him harder may come back to haunt us.

They also have senior Kevin Jones who may win BE POY and Truck Bryant who is a senior and may make a BE all-conference team. HMMMMMM that!!!

Exactly. BIG difference between having a lot of freshmen and having ONLY freshmen. Imagine is SJU team we have right now with Hardy, Burrell and DJ on it... That's is the position WVU is in. Shows the daunting task we have is season to earn wins.
