I looked at the list and it is hard to fully analyze the list as many of the player have never played a single college game. I would agree that Heron at 50 is probably correct. See below. But how can you exclude LJ from the list, in favor of guys at Detroit, Nothridge, Siena, William & Mary, Hampton and Weber St. It boggles the mind.

50. Mustapha Heron, St. John's: In his first season at St. John's following his transfer from Auburn, Heron acquitted himself nicely as a co-star to Shamorie Ponds. But now it's Heron's time to shine. Under a new coaching regime, he should operate as the new No. 1 option in the Red Storm's new system. — KB

I didn’t look at the list very carefully either but it is very difficult to compare Freshman to Upperclassmen in how they impact the college game versus NBA potential. As for the players at smaller schools it is always interesting to see where these players are as many of them are quite good and on NBA rosters as well as good individual performers when there teams make the NCAA. Take a look at the Rockets where the kid from Campbell made the team over Ponds. The important thing for Figgy and St. John’s is that he continues to assert himself as a top Big East player this season.

The Pre season All America team has Howard and Powell on the first team . Just wondering if Ponds has opted for a Senior Year instead of going Pro. He might have had the opportunity to shine under a new system and Coach ? Especially since he would have been rejoining Heron and Figgy . But, I am sure there are equally valid opinions that Figgy and Heron will have better years without him . Admittedly , it’s all speculation but , who’s to say really ? Ponds is already drifting around NBA just signing 2 way with Raptors . Anyone know what the dollars are usually are in such contracts?
