Just kidding. A mod can delete this. But I would like to see topics about everything.

In an interview with Bill Raftery, Chris Mullin said when all is said and done that he'd like to be ranked up their with some of the great SJU coaches, starting with Buck Freeman. Raftery replied, "I knew Buck Freeman, and you're no Buck Freeman".

Actually on a more serious note, I was reading an article about St. John's preparing for a Georgetown game at home in NYC back in the Mullin playing era. At an open practice, Mullin asked a local reporter who he thought was going to win the game. The reporter replied, "Georgetown?" Mullin replied, "If that's what you think, you can get out of my gym right now." As Stengel would say, "And you can look it up"

I really don't know if this coaching thing will work out or not, but I wouldn't bet even a nickel against it, not even now at 0-8. If you are so convinced this isn't going to work out in the end, I guess Chris would also say to you, "Well, you can get out of my gym.

If you think this is being a shill for Mullin, maybe your right. I call it loyalty, until I have a reason not to be loyal. I don't have it quite yet.

Love this Mr. Beast. I'm a huge Chris Mullin fan.Someone said it earlier on another thread, something like this season "has been a perfect storm for losses.'
But there's no quit in CM.. He'll prevail--and so will St. John's.

I'm with you Beast. He has a long way to go to build the program, but I would never bet against him.

I think he can get it done too. But not by continuing to do the same. Part of Ewing's deal was that he had to bring in an X's and O's guy. It's nothing personal against Greg and I know Chris is close with him and his family, but it's time to move in a different direction or else Chris will follow the footsteps of many coaches who have lost their jobs. Too stubborn to make a staff change.

I think we need to bring in better X's and better O's, and more of them, not necessarily a better checkers player.
