Sounds like a great local prospect. Big time local PG from the Bronx who can score from everywhere. Apparently can do it all. Great to be the first big offer as the local school.

Sounds like he would be a very good get for SJU and great to see Coach Lavin and Rico all over him.

Chiles not mentioned. Strange.

In the Post article posted on the Jungle it mentions chiles taking the trip with lav to see him

Would be great to get a kid who can really put the ball in the basket and hit the outside shot.

It's probably been a long time since a high D-1 kid came out of Gompers.

The last one I remember was Chris Brooks, a 6'-6" forward, who graduated in 1987 or 88, and went to West Virginia, where he had a pretty solid career, averaging double figures all four years. I followed him closely because a friend of mine was teaching at Gompers at the time and had told me about him, and I remember one of the prep mags had him listed as a top 40 player. Naturally, I was hoping he'd opt for St. John's, but he was just one more in a long string of disappointments.

The only other big-time recruit from Gompers I can recall (and I'm surprised that I can) of was Freddie Crawford, who played for St. Bonaventure and the Knicks for a while in the 60s.

Bridgton supposedly.

Saw him in the 1st half yesterday I wasn't super impressed. He was drilling everything in warmups. Didn't get many shots in the 1st half but don't recall him hitting the ones he took.

Plus with no PG really on his team yesterday he was trying to run point and results weren't so good. Throw in the fact he's smaller than Hall or Hooper and definitely a '13 kid and seems to me he's secondary option right now.

Agreed.. He looked just ok yesterday.. He is really small and fwiw I heard he did even less in the second half.

Didn't even make Bronx 1st team.
Dingle was Bronx player of the year.
Would have come to STJ in a heartbeat, given an offer.

He (Galan) just isn't a better high school player then any of the kids who made the first team . In hindsight recruiting Dingle might have been a good move considering some of the late names being thrown around.. He wouldn't be much more than a bench player for us... but i'll take a kid like that off the bench anyday.

Would Daniel Dingle really fill a need?

We need size and shooters badly. Another 6'6" wing?
