Candidates for Penn State Head Coach Vacancy

Would be pretty amazing to see Pitino take the job after spending the past six months talking about how Iona will be his last job.

I actually don't think Penn State gives him a look, and I don't think he'd take it either. If he does move on, he's looking for a bigger basketball name than Penn State.

No good Italian restaurants or race tracks in Happy Valley.

Silly to mention him about this job. After the Sandusky abuse that also implicated Paterno as an enabler (right or wrong) Pitino would not warrant consideration. I do agree however, that with any success at all, presuming there are no indiscretions, someone will consider him.

Im guessing lots of schools(besides Penn State) are already considering him for an opening in the near future. They will be keeping close tabs on him. Few schools wanted to be the first to take a chance on him. But with a season(or less) under his belt, and with him keeping his nose clean and his penis in his pants, lots of programs with $, and who have struggled, will have Pitino on their wish list. Let's go on a limb and assume he was being honest when he said that he planned to finish his career at Iona. I have a very hard time believing that the inner competitor in him will turn down an opportunity to potentially make it back to the mountaintop(IE final 4) again. I know he did it once with a small catholic school, but lighting rarely strikes twice in the same spot.

I don't think Pitino would consider Penn State. He's always been at schools where Basketball is king. Prov, Kentucky, Lville. Penn State as we know is a football school to the 10th degree. Sure his name will be out there but also personally now I just don't see him leaving for college job. I can see him giving the NBA another shot but lot can happen in 2-3 years.

Moose I would not put a timeline on when Pitino may leave. While I also don't see him leaving for Penn State, IMO I would see him leaving pretty quickly for the right college coaching job. At his age, time is a huge factor. I think it will all depend on what opportunity is presented. I don't think he wants to deal with the rigors on an NBA season, and the aggravation that comes from dealing with NBA players. But again, if the right situation presented itself, I agree that he'd jump at it.

Rivals 4* recruit Elijah Hutchins-Everett, a 6’10” Center from Putnam Science Academy committed to Penn State.

In addition to Penn State Elijah had offers from Villanova, Syracuse, Seton Hall, Minnesota, UMiami, Rutgers, DePaul and others.

Given the fact that Coach Chambers recruited Elijah, and Chambers has been terminated then I would hope someone on the St. John’s staff would call someone on the coaching staff at Putnam Science and inquire about Elijah‘s intentions.

Otis, don't you miss the good old days back in the early 60's when you and your frat brothers at PSU chased wild sheep through the forests of central PA?

Crazy ending. Seems like they got robbed. Although still not so sure that the upper tip of the FB didn't cross the goal line before the other tip hit the ground

But I am sure that the ball hit the ground before hitting the pilon. Crazy finish along with a potential game winning field goal on the last play hitting one upright, then the cross bar, then the other upright, then the crossbar again before falling to the ground without going through the upright. Doubt that has ever been seen before but I guess that's 2020.

6'7" power forward Taquan Woodley has de-committed from Penn State University.

Daquan is ranked as a 3* by Rivals. He is a member of the class of 2021. He is from Camben NJ.

Prior to his commitment to PSU, Woodley held offers from South Carolina, Rutgers, Temple and the University of Manhattan.

Jeez, does he even know who his coach is going to be. We have to land a kid like this. Look at the list of schools after him
