I remember having a discussion a while back with some black friends who I worked with and liked alot. One guy believed that racism was much worse in the south. The other who had lived in the south, thought that at least in the south if someone didn't like you because of race, they let you know it. When you read stuff that none other than Forrest Whittaker was accused just last week of shoplifitng in an upper west side deli (based on race), it makes you wonder who was right.

I do agree that this stuff is deplorable and despicable. We have a long way to go.
