can Vs can't

Norm Roberts : Can't recruit, Can't coach
Steve Lavin : Can recruit, Can't coach

St. John's needs a coach who can recruit and can coach. Peroid..

My favorite post of the day.

4 years into Lavin's era, we are a 5th place team with many team weaknesses that have been observable and not improved upon enough to get to the Dance.

And, the way the season ended with a blow out effort against RMORRIS in a tournament we've won 6 or 7 times on our homecourt, is, as Keegan Bradley says, 'PATHETIC!"

Throw in Games against Providence and Xavier where the team showed nothing in arguably the biggest games of their career and, yet, the kool aiders still want an EXTENSION NOW?

The NIT is a post season tournament to build upon for next season's games. We used it as if it were summer vacation.already!

It is not uncommon for a college coach to be weak in either recruiting or coaching. That is why there are assistants to pickup the slack.

You'd have to go back to Frank McGuire to find the last time we consistantly got both at the highest level. The last time ANY NYC area team won a national championship that meant anything was 1950.

Kool-Aid is what you drink when you can't afford anything better. That's why it's so popular in poor neighborhoods. If you have a taste for champagne, write Chris Monasch a letter, and include in it a check that will help pay for a new coach. I'm sure it will be appreciated.

Who/where do I mail my check to pay for a new AD?

To the President we don't have. This school is in shambles. Everything is going down. Not to mention the Law School just dropped into the third tier of rankings to a whopping 107.

Didn't know that about our Law School. Especially in light of the Dean of the Law School being considered as the new President. Interesting.

We could've won every game of the NIT by 30 and quite honestly I would not have cared. Doesn't change what I think of Lavin. He isn't my type of coach, not only because of the fact that he has no clue how to coach, but because he makes excuses all the time. The longer he's here the more I want him out. He's verbose which pisses me off because it makes his excuses seem never-ending.

Maybe he belongs in Washington? :)

I would keep Lavin for his recruiting skills and get a good Xs & Os assistant coach and let him be more active in the huddle. Our attendance at games does not seem to light a fire under the current roster (NIT at home with 1,000 + attending-Sad).
