Calhoun

Jim Calhoun may be taking the BC job, and that’s just wild, in my opinion.

BC leaves the BE. Uconn goes bonkers. Their Attorney General, now US Senator, sues, actually sues, BC in Court.

Calhoun goes bonkers, how could they do this, who do they think they are. He wouldn’t schedule them. Pox on BC.

Flash forward, JC wins three National Crowns. He is bored and as Francessacon says, he is a “lifer”, all he lives for is coaching, so he is approached by BC, hey, who do you think we should hire, he says, well, if you really want to know.....

Very interesting scenario....I agree with Fatso on this one, anywhere Calhoun goes, he’ll have a winning program, he is a great coach, flat out the guy can coach, no one can deny that.

But he got all upset when BC and the other teams left the Big East, he disliked the ACC, and hated BC, for a while at least.

I really believe he would love to somehow get BC back on the map, in the best BB conference, against the biggest names, and against some of his old foes, and he just might do it.

I will always dislike him for his disparaging remarks about us when we were way down; “you know a small Catholic school, without much resources and a parochial vision of things, and no football, is never again going to make it big, the world has changed.”, or something to that effect.

Rodney Purvis, Daniel Hamilton & Sam Cassel Jr coming in next year. No info but I have speculated for a while that he may jump ship.

By the way, what happened to him this year, injury? Had an awful year

Was injured & just never got going. Ollie dog house?

He was injured earlier in the season, but don't think he was in Kevin Ollie's dog house. To the chagrin of UConn fans, Ollie kept giving him minutes, albeit fewer and fewer, even as he numbers went south: finished the years averaging close to 14 minutes per game, with a .305 FG average, .241 on 3-pointers, and 3.9 ppg. Not good numbers.

This quote could be applied to all Catholic schools except Gonzaga at this time.
Even the progressive Marquette has their coach leave??????

Only Calhoun of interest to me is Omar.

With Harrison, Greene and Branch graduating next season, we will need backcourt experience. Omar Calhoun won´t be a bad option. I know that he has very bad numbers this year, but a player who averaged 11 points as freshman in the old Big East can´t be bad.

You can hate him, and with ample reasons, but he built a program at UCONN from nothing, and won 3 national championships. An all time great coach. who apparently wants back in. It will not likely be BC, but the timing of this report is impeccable, with season ending in 2 weeks, his phone will be ringing off the hook. I expect he will be working somewhere soon. Marquette can certainly afford him.

FWIW after Calhoun was interviewed during UCONN game, Rafftery mentioned that he can't see Calhoun staying retired.

I'm sorry, but nobody will ever be able to convince me that Calhoun was running a clean program all of these years. To me, the time he got caught and got the slap on the wrist was just the tip of the iceberg.

Most programs are doing things to give them an edge College BB is a business now

Agreed. But that kind of stuff has been going on for a very, very, long time. Way before College BB became big business. Of course there's illegal and then there's immoral. Very tough to be a successful coach at this level if you're going to adhere to strict morals.

Also FWIW, when shown on camera or interviewed he has looked significantly healthier and more relaxed than at any time his last 5 or more years at UConn, Maybe a couple years off was all he needed.

It's the bloodies.

Is he thinking of leaving?

Some chatter. We'll see.

Damn Paultz, you hear everything. That would be a nice addition for this program, hope it comes to fruition.

Actually a fellow poster on JJ, who is very knowledgeable about local HS scene, told me last week that Ollie will meet with Calhoun family after season to see where things stand. He also stated SJU would very likely be in the mix should OC leave. Nothing definitive, but information I respect. From my perspective, I think, with Purvis transferring in & other guards on board, it is quite possible he leaves. We'll see.
