Just got home from the trip to Butler.

Absolutely fantastic time. Could not have been better. Great, great fun. Good number of the faithful (including Salty Dog) made the journey. People could not have been nicer.

Dinner at St. Elmo's on Friday night (best steak I have ever eaten), tour of Hinkle before the game, an extremely well attended reception prior to tip-off, dinner at The Indianapolis Colts Restaurant after the game (we were in Robert Irzay's private room,Thank You Very Much: Greg, Class of 1981), and then went back to The Marriott Indianapolis East (a great hotel) and had drinks with Lav and others.

And, a GREAT ROAD WIN !

Go St. John's !!!!!

3 wins in a row and counting, I have a red mustache this morning.

Trip was fantastic. Really enjoyed it, and meeting a lot of the people.

St. Elmo's was terrific. I did not go through Red White (even though member) as I could not take off from work on Friday and got in late Friday evening.

The coaching staff was extremely accessible and after speaking with them I feel good about the direction of our program without getting into speciifics.

For those who didn't go Hinkle Fieldhouse is a must see.

Tom/Bucknasty did you guys ask any questions regarding the rumors that we read on this site daily?

JerseyShoreJohnny went. Tom just posted his post from another thread.

They are aware of what is on here.

Lavin is not going anywhere and he plans to be here for a long time and he wants to build this program up to where it was int he 80's.

Also, in regards to substitution patterns there was good reasons for all of that, I don't really want to dive into it but I would say if the stuff that was going on was on my watch I would do the same exact thing.

Thanks. Considering we activated a redshirt, and then started him, started a walkon, gave minutes to fringe players, I doubted this was a mad scientist with no clue just trying anything.

Are you comfortable in saying those reasons are now gone, whoever it was they applied to? Is the team finally buying in to the team concept?

I live in Indianapolis and attended the pre-game reception and game. Great win over Butler at Hinkle (hard place to play at). Gene Keady came in with Chris Monasch and they each spoke for a few minutes. Keady took questions and Monasch was beautifully tanned. I didn't do the St. Elmo's or Hotel thing (that was for the 'trip' folks), although I've been to St. Elmo's several times and its delicious. I was able to briefly meet Lav after the game, as well as Gift, Obekpa, Sir Dom, Minko and Tierney. Everybody was very friendly. Lavin is a down to earth guy. Minko went to Butler and compared HInkle to being the Fenway of College B-ball (well put).

I spoke to several people at the reception and was curious if there were any message board monsters from here or jungle, or (god forbid) big east boards. I don't post regularly anymore but it was good to see about 50 people at the reception. I thought I would be the only one that showed up here in Indy. Tough loss to Creighton tonight. That charge called on Jordan was bull. McDermott is ridiculous.

I feel better with the whole Jordan situation. Specifically after hearing what the reasoning behind it was.
What was the reasoning? And what exactly was the situation? I thought Jorden was out the door, Why?

Because big time schools tried to backdoor us. You would not believe the "integrity" of college basketball. Two top ten schools had direct/indirect contact with
him and tried to influence his decision. Guess who? It is amazing what a coach has to put up with,
