Well at least we know; Butler did it!
Learned about this last week. I guess Butler will revise its 25% of capacity in game attendance policy.
The BE should establish a conference wide policy that mandates that until all teams can have fans in attendance, then no fans allowed. It's not fair for certain schools to have a homecourt advantage because they arbitrarily decide to allow fans in the seats.

Absolutely - why take any risk of losing the season?
No fans please.

I hope their bulldog mascot is in attendance. He greets the Butler players at start of game.

I agree but I guess the flipside nationwide is that in some places the incidence of covid is low and schools need every penny of revenue even to pay for daily testing of athletes.

Your statement is incorrect - schools do not "arbitrarily decide to allow fans in the seats"
They are permitted to do so (or are not) by the guidelines established by their state
In Florida, for example, the state is pretty much open so some fans are permitted to attend
The Florida State game on ESPN right now has fans in the stands, a live pep band, etc.
In most states, including New York, fans are not permitted to attend sporting events
The same applied to college football - some schools had fans in the stands while many did not

The best mascot is the Hawk at St Joe's. He/She is required to flap his wings nonstop throughout the entire game including time outs. You gotta be in pretty good shape to be able to do that!!

I miss Flag Boy at the St John's games. They used to have a really obese guy running around in circles while holding the flag during the time out and it looked like he would drop dead by the time the players came back onto the floor.

Replacing Butler with Georgetown on Sunday--league quick to fill in when a team goes down. It will be in McDonnagh Gym some place most of you have not seen--Georgetown plays NO games at home as it is a true Bandbox. Surprised game versus The Hall is at the Pru Center and not Walsh--another bandbox.

I hope they keep rotating healthy teams in against each other. I would play every three days to get as many of these games in as we can before the inevitable shutdown.

I've learned that, with all of the changes being made to our schedule, it doesn't pay to DVR the games in advance.

Let's face it, they are just doing their best to slap together a season under the circumstances, be fluid, and preserve media revenue essential to athletic departments. The results when all is said and done is secondary to just getting through the season. We just have to enjoy it for what it is and be thankful we have competent leadership in CMA and MC.

Okay, if I remove "arbitrarily", will that work for you? My point is that within the BE there should be a conference-wide policy that prohibits fan attendance until all schools/state guidelines can permit it..

I guess if it were only about competition you would be right. We are in a pandemic, and universities are no different than any other business in terms of needing revenue. If a team hs to shut down and not practice for 2 weeks because of Covid, should all league teams follow suit? Your position seems obvious until you think about it. Everyone is just trying to get through this thing and maintain health and fiscal solvency.

Maybe because Walsh doesn't come close to meeting Big East's minimum attendance requirement for conference games. If so, seems absurd given that there will be no one in attendance wherever it's played..
