Villanova is the beneficiary of strong institutional leadership over the past 25+/- years from its Board of Trustees, successive Presidents, and other decision making positions. It's Administration set goals and worked to meet objectives which has allowed the school to pivot from a local college to what is becoming a national university.

Unfortunately our beloved StJohn's University has not been the beneficiary of the same level of leadership from it's Board or former long time president. My sense is that leadership at StJohn's is slowly turning for the better, but the results of that improved leadership will take time to show results.

Whether the New Yorker magazine likes it or not rankings do matter. Rankings drive applications, contributions and academic footprint.
