We could use a Billy Goodwin in every recruiting class - to our younger poster - you missed a great team player!

Billy Goodwin was exactly the type of player that made this program tick throughout the Looie years. Smart, tough, competitive. Billy placed teamwork and winning first. The SI cover featuring Billy sitting on the rim after St. John's won the 1983 Big East tournament is unforgettable. . The Beast of the East.
CMA is bringing the Billy Goodwin type player back to St. John's.

He was a good scorer , passed the ball well and played very good D. As others have pointed out he was a real team first player and he also happened to be a really nice guy , I know as I was on campus with him the same time.
It was a big disappointment when he was taken in the third round of the 1983 NBA draft. Many of us thought , or perhaps were hoping, he would be drafted higher.
