We all knew it at that time but it really played out that the hose job to start the season at Seton Hall really hurt.would be 9-8 and sitting with 7 quad 1 wins.

Granted we should have never lost 4 home games to likes of Georgetown DePaul Xavier and Providence.

All adds up to a very frustrating and mostly disappointing season.

Time for Ponds to stop looking disinterested for half a game and will this team to a must needed win. Powell did it last night. If Shamorie wants his legacy at St. John’s to be more than a high volume scorer, play more like Marcus Hatten than Eugene Lawrence on Saturday.

I'll take your Marcus Hatten and raise you a D'Angelo. Play with all of your heart
Control your mouth. Leave it all on the floor. This is it. Make no mistake where you are.

...and it's even more irritating that the Refs stole game #1 vs. Seton Hall away from us.
That irritation is perhaps only supplanted by the irritation that we've played like dog doo-doo down the stretch.

Seems like none of these 8-9 teams have that killer instinct. There is a clear gap between the top two and the next 6. The difference is that St. John’s has the actual seasoned talent to beat anyone in the country, it’s just about executing for a full 40 and getting it done. They’ve gotten lucky that none of these teams has taken advantage of their inconsistency. Time to wake up and play to their full potential. Let’s wrap up the 3 seed and go on a tourney run.

I have a weird feeling teams are going to regret not finishing the johnnies when they had the chance.

Also important to note that it looks like every Big East team will finish with a record of 500 or better this year. When was the last time that happened? ESPKen?

The top 2 teams Nova and Marq have indeed separated themselves record wise but I have a funny feeling if the season continued for another 18 games they too would come back to the pack as they have recently (Marq 3 straight losses and neither team keeping up their early season BE pace).

For us , our first game , either Wednesday or Thursday could be more difficult than facing Marquette and Villanova in the later rounds . Does anyone know if we lose to Xavier will that mean a Wednesday game or, does it still come down to the. Numerous tie breakers ? Of course , winning Saturday and finishing 3 rd is best . It would not be ideal to face Xavier or DePaul again in the BE Tourney .

Courtesy of MIT Storm in the "Seedings" postings:

"We win = Top 6
We Lose, Villanova wins, the only way we fall to a 7 Seed is:
Butler over PC
GT over Marquette
DePaul over Creighton

If Seton Hall beats Villanova, we fall to a 7 or worse seed if:
Georgetown Win over Marquette
Georgetown Loss and Butler Win vs. PC + DePaul Win vs. Creighton

I believe I ran all scenarios...summary, let's beat Xavier and if we lose, root like hell for Nova and Marquette. "
AND

"With Villanova and Georgetown playing early games on Saturday, we'll know our fate before our 530p tipoff and whether we need to win to avoid Wednesday. Not sure that is a good thing or bad thing for this team...

Separately I saw an ESPN prediction article yesterday where 2 of their 4 analysts had STJ winning the BE Tourney...can't see how that happens other than getting some favorable matchups. Seems that many of the scenarios where we get a Top 6 seed have us playing Xavier or Georgetown on Thursday...either would be tough to get a W."
