Zach B predicts;

Big East media day Wed. How I expect coaches to rank teams: Nova, X, Hall, Providence, Butler, Creighton, sju, marquette, gtown, depaul

Prediction for Coaches' Big East POY: Brunson. Rookie: Spellman.

Somewhat related, Braziller noted ESPN's Jeff Goodman, that "handsome" devil, who broke Mullin's balls all last season, is at practice today.

Per Goodman himself
Here at St. John's practice. Mullin and St. Jean coaching 'em up. This team has a chance. Guards that can make plays.

Maybe they took him to Dante's and Lou and the boys told him how it was gonna be from now on. ;) :)

Dante's is gone :(

St. John’s projected to finish sixth this year.

Shamorie Ponds and Marcus Lovett projected to be all Big East 2nd team members.

Sixth would be heading in the right direction but I am still hoping for no worse then fifth.

I think Ponds is a little better then Carrington but he is a Senior and on a better team. Also think the LoVett and Ponds votes cancel each other out to some extent.

Per Evan Daniels
St. John’s Chris Mullin said Justin Simon gives them versatility. Allows him to move Ponds & Lovett off the ball. All 3 will play together.

Ed Cooley: "Thank God for our presidents for getting rid of the football schools and becoming basketball-centric. I think we have the best schools, the best coaches. We sell the Big East." #pcbb #BEmediaday

Attended the event as well. (Wish I knew you'd be there; would've like to have met you.) Listening to Cooley interact with the media, it's easy to see why he's been able to recruit very well and why he seems to have a great relationship with his players. Comes across as a genuinely nice guy with a good sense of humor, but who also has a real presence.

Regarding the photo of Chris & Patrick: It was easy to see that the two of them are friends; spent a lot of time sitting together. Interesting comment by Ewing during the coaches' Q&A with Tarik Turner: He said he and Chris really bonded while playing on the Dream Team. Said they were the "only ones" on that team who were "really serious" about being at their best, and that the two them put in a lot of extra time practicing when they had free time.

Our kids conducted themselves well; really nice group ... although I felt a little bad for Amar. Media didn't pay much, if any, attention to him. Nevertheless, he kept a smile on his face.

Lavin was there but stayed about 20 rows up until the event was almost over, at which point he came down to the floor and stayed on the side of the court. Upon seeing him, Amar ran over and the two did some serious hugging. (Marcus also went over and hugged Lavs, though not as emotionally as Amar did.)

Spoke briefly with Anton Goff. Said I pleased that the Lapchick statue was finally going to be unveiled, and he said that was one of his priorities when he came onboard. I then put a buzz in his ear about adding more players to our "legacies." Said he'd look into it ... but who knows? Apologized for taking up his time at this event with my personal agenda, but he was very warm and said there was no need to.
