NEW YORK (Oct. 18, 2022) – For the second straight year, St. John’s guard Posh Alexander has earned preseason recognition from the league’s coaches, finding a spot on the Preseason All-BIG EAST First Team.

The BIG EAST Preseason Coaches’ Poll was also released on Tuesday morning, as the Johnnies were picked to finish sixth in a league that sent six teams to last year’s NCAA Tournament.

Alexander, a Preseason Second Team All-BIG EAST selection in 2021-22, is coming off a sensational sophomore campaign. The Brooklyn native ranked second on the team and 11th in the league in scoring, averaging 13.8 points per game. He finished in double figures 23 times in 29 appearances with three 20-point efforts and three double-doubles. Not only a proficient scorer, Alexander also ranked second in the BIG EAST and 19th nationally with 5.5 assists per game. For his efforts, he was named All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention at the conclusion of the season.

Defensively, Alexander topped the league and ranked 11th overall in Division I with 2.3 steals per game, earning a spot on the watch list for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year.

No David Jones he will be on the second team in IMHO..... hopefully this motivates him....

I pretty much agree with coaches order of finish poll except I'd have us and PC reversed and might also reverse Butler & Marquette. Surprised David Jones didn't make honorable mention all BE.
