I realize there's a Big East thread, and if a mod wants to move this post to that thread then fine, but I felt this was pretty significant.

There's been a lot of optimism and, recently, pessimism on this board surrounding SJU (some of it from myself). With that pessimism, I've seen some posters down on the Big East.... which is pure insanity.

Check out the conference RPI standings (note: click the second tab here that says "Conference RPI")

1. Big East
2. Big XII
3. ACC
4. Big Ten
5. SEC
6. Pac 12
7. A10
8. AAC
9. WCC
10. MVC

After a somewhat disappointing inaugural season, this year has been a huge success and extremely important for both SJU's and the BE's futures.

So, at the very least no matter how this season goes we have this to be grateful for. Seven out of ten teams have been ranked at some point this year, and Xavier has a chance at being ranked really soon as well.

Sure, this year the conference is more evenly split rather than top heavy. We don't have as many Final Four caliber teams as some other conferences... BUT #1 IS #1! Nobody saw this coming, and regardless of how we finish this year and who our coach is next year we know we have a lot of great games to look forward to for many years to come.

MAAC is catching up to the Sun Belt slowly but surely.

Another note: there's currently SEVEN top 31 BE teams on espn's rpi rankings, including SJU.
