I think this 4 man class is what solid programs are made of. I think we have a mix of All BE players as upperclassmen and some solid role players as they develop.

My vote goes for Sima. He has legitimate height and length for a prototypical college center. He has shown that he already has great feel blocking shots and a decent touch around the basket. I think he will only get stronger and more comfortable as time goes on. Would not be surprised if he came back 15-20 pounds stronger next year. IMO he is what gives us a chance to be more than good these next few years. We will have plenty of guards and forwards but we will need that inside presence to compete with the big boys. Think Ochefu for Nova, without him are they a top 5-10 team? No probably more like top 20.

Agree but Mussini deserves some credit. Here he is compared to the reigning BE Player of the Year:

Mussini Arcidiacono
Pts 13.0 12.9
Asts 2.7 4.3
FT% 87 80
Steals 1.4 1.4
Mins 33.2 31.7

Biggest difference is Mussini has 59 turnovers to Arcidiacono's 31. One is a Freshman and the other is a Senior so that will improve. The future in college is very bright for Federico.

ARCIDACONO has better players with him that take pressure off him, also he is playing in his usual position Mussini is a 2
guard he will score much better next yr when he is off the ball. He has been doing great expect big things from him in the future

Yakwe appears to be the most athletic player on the court regardless of who we play against. That can't be taught. He is way behind the curve skill set wise, but that assures we will have him until he graduates. He has good teachers, so I see him as having the most upside.

I caught him towering over a guy vs. SH. I was hoping he wasn't going to get T'd up. But good to see the toughness.

I like Mussini and think he will be good, but 1 other major difference in my opinion is Mussini shooting percentage is .373 and Arcidiacono is .463.

True but Arch is a senior and the reigning (rightly or wrongly) BE player of the year. As a frosh his stats were about the same except his shooting percentage. I dropped his frosh stats in the OP for comparative purposes.

Nicely done sir! You are correct, comparing Mussini to this years Arch is almost an apples to oranges comparison, but when you throw in Arch's freshman stats, to me at least, that makes it a more apples to apples comparison and one that is very favorable. I hope his career path and growth are similar because we should be so lucky as to have Mussini turn out to be a similar player to Arch by year 4.

The one thing I will say for Mussini is that he has been relatively consistent. His numbers haven't dropped off much in Big East play except for his two point shooting percentage which has gone down. I attribute this to a lot of missed layups as the size and speed have made things difficult for him. I have to belief the same is happening on the defensive end.

Sima will make more money as a pro, but Yakwe's stats as a junior and senior are going to be insane. It's going to be a fun ride if everyone stays and we add someone like Tucker.

Just curious: Are the 2 members that voted for Ellison out of the first 37 votes also picking Rick Santorum as the next president of the United States?

Intriguing topic Amase and nice observations by all
(JMar USG RM Knight Austour Andrew2 LJSA - did I miss anyone- and I'm not even running for office :) )
It dawned on me (wow) how many of these kids would even be on the team over the past two " Dark Ages" decades...pre-Lavin
This year W/L stinks but we are starting to have such nice problems as with talented starters and talented bench and talented kids considering us.
What a difference a decade or two makes...
:)

I'm guessing it's two guys who follow Jersey hoops closely and watched him play in high school and saw potential.

I can't imagine we share a board with someone so stupid as to vote for Santorum.

not saying that Mussini is equal but Arci has a lot of other weapons around him and is not drawing the same level of attention

Just based on the eye test, Arch was a better/more complete player as a freshman than Mussini is. Probably my least favorite player in the BE, but I can't knock his game.

I voted for Ellison as a symbolic middle finger to everyone being so rough on him...

Not saying I believe it but yea

The thing with Ellison is, the theory is the more he plays this year the more it will help him down the road. The problem is, the more he plays the worse he looks. Even if he is not as terrible as he looks, playing this terribly could affect his confidence going forward. I would scale his minutes back for his own good.

I like Yakwe a lot but people need to slow down on him. Right now he is more Ryan Williams than David Russell. Has great raw athletic ability but at 6-6 or whatever going yo have to develop some kind of 15 foot shot and become less of a liability at the line. Can be really good but needs a lot of work.
