It's on FS2 right now. Johnnies up 11-7 early.

Aaliyah Hanford has all 11 of our points, to become the first 2,000 point scorer in the history of the women's program.

Halftime: St. John's 35, Georgetown 32.

North,

Since Charlie Crème had them as a 10 seed as of Friday (and better then the "last 4 in"), is it safe to say "win and we're in"? I can't imagine them penalizing us for losing to DePaul in Chicago tomorrow (if that is indeed what happens)?

Correct , if we win tonight we should be in. Too bad it has to come down to this. Should have had a win or two more this season.

51-47 sju , about 1 minute into the 4th quarter,

This one might go down to the wire. Been back and forth all the way

Just under 5 minutes left, 56-50 St. John's. The usual big performances from Hanford and Grant.

Georgetown does not have a field goal in nearly 11 minutes, but we haven't been much better. Struggling from the FT line.

As an aside, this Georgetown team seems to take it's cue from the men's teams the school had in the 1980s, WRT physicality.

We win 65-52! Georgetown did not make a single field goal in the fourth quarter.

We now play DePaul in the semifinal tomorrow night at 6:30 pm, on FS1. Beating them is a tall order, but as North said earlier, this win almost certainly puts us in the NCAA tournament.

funny, I noticed the same thing...some physical play bordering on intimidation tactics, I thought maybe I just couldnt watch Georgetown play (men or women) without thinking that...

Since when do they play quarters?

Quarters are so much better than halves. hate watching closely called games where teams are over the limit for 10 plus minutes of a half and we get a FT parade. At least with quarters we get a reset on team fouls

Since when do they play quarters?

Started this season
There is also a provision to move the ball to halfcourt when calling timeout, a la the NBA
Not sure exactly how that works (when you can do it) but I have seen it done at end of games
Going to be very tough to beat DePaul - they are very good

They used it in CYO girls this season, you can move the ball to half court if the ball exchanges to the defense in the last minute of the game. The only caveat is you can't dribble or pass before calling a timeout. The worst part of the new rules is that after 5 fouls per quarter the shooting team shoots 2 foul shots, no one and one. The foul reset to zero after every quarter. Needless to say it caused mass confusion in CYO for the first few weeks.

Girls HS olay adopted the same 5 foul limit per period for this season, along with the potential advance on timeouts in the last minute of the game.

1 and 1 rewards fouling and hurts the offensive team. Say someone is a 50% FT shooter. That means half the time they shoot a 1 and 1 they won't even get a second FT so the 50% FT shooter effectively becomes 25% as if he goes to line twice he is 50 50 to make the first one time and miss the second and than miss the first and not even get the second.
