Guest speaker or guitarist? ;)

Both. And special thanks to JSJ for bringing me as one of his guests to another great event.

Bruce Beck did a great job as host and it was a real nice event especially with the oversized ringding like desserts. lol

Seriously though not only is JSJ a class act and a great hoops supporter he is an even better SJU supporter and an awesome guy.

Thanks JSJ !!!!!!

Many thanks for the kind words.

In my opinion, St. John's baseball alumni are arguably the best supporters of the St. John's athletic department.

They always show up for this event and have a deep passion for the baseball program and their alma mater.

I would guess, there were at least 300 people at The NYAC.

Bruce Beck was The MC. Although he is a Rutgers alumnus, Beck is a lot more connected to the university than most.

He is on The Board at St. John's Bread and Life and does a lot a lot of great things very quietly, unlike someone he followed as host of a certain late night Sunday sports show on NBC !!

Bernie Williams and his band were excellent.

He performed a "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" guitar solo at the end of the evening.

Kudo's to Bernie who signed baseballs and other memorabilia for anyone who asked.

Bernie is the #5 on the all-time Yankee hit list behind Jeter, Gehrig, Ruth, and Mantle.

This was the 7th annual dinner. Guest speakers have included: John Franco, Ron Darling (Frank Viola also attended that evening), Roger Clemens, David Wright (who was brought to the dinner by Mike Repole), Bobby V. and Terry Francona.

Art Shamsky, a member of the 1969 World Champion New york Met's, attended last evening's event.

John Franco was also there as was The Maven.

Wasn't aware of it until last evening but John Franco pitched 2 no-hitters as a freshman at St. John's.

A little known fact is that St. John's has the 7th winningest baseball program in the country !!!!

Coach Ed Blankmeyer is one of the best coaches at St. John's without a doubt.

Tough schedule, as always, this season. Games against Georgia Tech, North Carolina, and Miami.

Play College World Series partcipant Stony Brook at Citi Field on Tuesday, March 26. Tickets are $10.

Legend's Jack Kaiser and Lou Carnesecca were "in the house".

Alumnus Bob Hirschfield '70C, '75GEd was honored. He coached New York Tech to 668 wins in a 29 year career.

He played high school baseball at St. Agnes (Rockville Center)

Annual Bullpen Golf Outing will be held Monday, July 29 at The Garden City Country Club.

Quick blurb from BA regarding the program. Looks like Louisville is favorite this year. Ranked top 5 nationally preseason.

Louisville enters as the Big East's clear favorite, but the race for second could go down to the wire. Head coach Ed Blankmeyer has built St. John's into a model Northern program, having made three straight regional trips and seven since 2004. The Johnnies broke through last year by winning a regional for the first time since 1980, upsetting North Carolina in the Chapel Hill Regional though they were dispatched by eventual national champ Arizona in super regionals. The Johnnies will have a different look in 2013 after losing four drafted players off last year's team, most notably third-team All-America shortstop Matt Wessinger and outfielder Jeremy Baltz (.345/.434/.534), a second-round pick of the Padres, but they do return six regulars from a lineup that finished second in the Big East in scoring. The offense may have to do much of the heavy lifting early, as the Red Storm lacks experience on the mound. They did get a boon when LHP Sean Hagan (8-2, 2.72) chose to come back for his senior season rather than sign with the Twins as a 29th-rounder last June. Hagan doesn't light up radar guns, but he mixes three pitches well and gets the most out of what he has. The Red Storm will need him to keep shouldering the load every Friday, as the rest of their rotation will be filled out by freshmen. They're excited about the potential of Fr. RHP Mike Sheppard, an unsigned 35th-round pick of the Reds who should slide into a weekend spot. Sheppard is also part of what will be a family affair for the Johnnies. He's Blankmeyer's nephew, and he'll be joined on the roster by the coach's son, Fr. 2B Ty Blankmeyer.
