At wits end

Albert Einstein stated the the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results. Insanity is what best describes this Johnnies team. They play the same way game in and game out expecting a different result. How many times will we play the same ineffective defense against teams much taller than us? How many times will be play the same stagnant offense against the zone? How many times will we have to listen to players and CM tell us that we need to learn and get better? If they haven’t learned after 31 games they will never learn.

CM is an SJU legend. It is sad to see that legend tarnished. It is obvious that he is not an effective coach. After this season he should resign and allow the program to move on. I don’t know who we should go after, but I still believe that this is a potential plum job. There must be some great young coaches who would love a job in the Big East. How about a coach (and staff) that can do more than recruit the dregs of other programs and bring in some quality HS talent?

This is my first post and it is one of frustration. This program has been laid low for two decades now. How is it that that small private school programs like Villanova, Butler, Xavier and Gonzaga can play at a high level year in and year out and we remain stuck in neutral?

Sorry to be such a downer as a rookie. Hope to be more cheerful in the future.

You are a 100 percent right, However . by criticizing CM you soon may find yourself blocked here. Be careful.

I had a lot of hope for Mullin and wish he could have gotten it done although, I don't see it happening. Feels as though with him as the coach we will not progress to our full potential.

This is bizarre coming from me, because I’ve always been a Mullin-phile and still support him—conditionally—as HC.
But it’s gotten to the point that the ‘Emperor’ is indeed ‘naked’.
And all of us are waiting for a kid to give us that ‘shout-out’.
Meanwhile the house that Joe and Louie built threatens to crumble into perpetual irrelevancy.
Sad times for a once-great program.

It's been a long time since we were relevant. I want more than what we had.

Well if you believe certain posters the fact that SJU has not done a lot of winning lately that is evidence we no longer should be demanding really good and should just accept mediocre even bad...

That is how Virginia Tech steals Buzz Williams from Marquette, because Virginia Tech was a basketball powerhouse for decades right with high expectations in a league with big time programs at the top...uh no they were a nothing program...but it didn't stop them from striving to be great...

Mullin's hiring has been a huge problem. His playing career at SJU propelled us into the heights of college basketball and his return as a coach has not translated into the acumen needed to be the Coaching face of the program. The perception has become that he is stubborn and lazy. Hopefully we can arrange an amicable divorce since he does not appear to be open to counseling.
