Article on Stu Jackson & The Big East

He's certainly crammed a whole lot into his career . . . I thought he was at least 68, not 58.

Appears to be a great hire and if it was the brainchild of Val Ackerman, it is easily her best move yet as Commissioner of the BE.

What would you like to see happen that you think won't happen under her but could under him?

I've seen enough under her to see that this League is just lingering with not much push behind it. I haven't been impressed with the hires they have brought within the industry.

What is Val Ackerman doing right?

I was really hoping to get an answer, since many people have expressed dissatisfaction with the job she is doing.

To answer your question, she has stabilized a league that was falling apart, got a very lucrative television contract, established league offices in NYC (an improvement over Providence), and made at least one excellent hire (per your previous post).

I guess she could have done more in the short time she has been Commissioner. I don't know. The league is doing well on the recruiting front, so she hasn't done anything to damage our recruiting profile. Can we blame her for losing Buzz? For how bad DePaul is? I'm curious.

Rotten pool player!
Rotten bowler!
Doesn't speak french!
At least Kranmars will get this. :)

But does that mean she is also the sweetest Commissioner in the world?

Stabilized a League? The school Presidents started the League. She was given the keys to a shiny new car. The TV contract was in place before she was named Commish also. Lets not confuse timelines here.

The offices were always going to find a new home. DC and NY were the options.

Like my previous post where I asked the question. We are coming off a mediocre year as a conference no. And currently FS1 has had rating thru the roof for their MLB playoff coverage. Yet there has been zero promotion around it being the home of BE hoops in just a few weeks. Kind of basic there not looking for her to turn the conference into a 7 bid league. I hope Stu gets freedom to show how good he is.

Havent thought about it enough to say whether she is doing a good job or not...But, Moose's point re: marketing the league during WS seems like a no brainer
