Article: Mullin A Hit With Alumni

I hope he knows when to take a pass when he needs to.

Beast & I have talked about how well Wright & Nova does recognizing and involving their past great players. Looks like Chris is heading in that direction.

Absolutely. At St. John's there has been a disconnect for a very long time between the coach and student, coach and administration, coach and alumni & former players.

It's time that the basketball program and its coach fully integrates itself into university life. Mullin, like Wright, should be utilized to the fullest degree. A lot of it is on him - strolling the campus, getting to know students and alumni on a first name basis, being present at university functions that have nothing to do with basketball, speaker at orientation, or even a minute or two when large groups of potential students tour the campus. That's not to preclude the primary role of winning basketball.

This week, Wright turned down Texas' overtures. Unless he is run out of town or things somehow got horrible for him there, I don't ever see him leaving before retirement. He's too loved, too valuable to the school in all ways. I see Mullin becoming our Jay Wright, our Lou Carnesecca. Mullin at 51-52 seems a lot younger than Lou at that age, and kids will really connect with him.

Excellent points especially the disconnect - can we please 1.welcome back (no not him) former players to hang around the team AND 2. can we please announce and acknowledge any former player attending a game!!! Take advantage of our history, promote goodwill etc.

All the best
