Pitt just bounced by Wagner. I love it! If a team like seton hall wants to compete, they should moveon from Willard and hire Hurley the first chance they get. He is a good coach and good recruiter.

Last year at one of the SJU events I asked Lavin what he thought of Hurley and he was raving about him as a coach and the future that he was going to have.

And it wasn't your typical coach politically correct speak. He really thought highly of him

Ive been mega impresses by Hurley. Like I said, even though Seton Hall is a rival. They should drop Willard and snatch Hurley after the season. Don't want to lose him. He's excellent.

OT. Just a note, I noticed some highlights of UTEP. Former SJU recruit Mike Perez seems to be a real solid player at UTEP. Excellent 3pt shooter, and averaging 12 ppg as an underclassmen. Wouldn't have been horrible to have him as depth at minimum on this team.

Was that the guy that committed but wasn't offered or something like that ? That name sounds familiar. Damn he could have been useful it sounds

Yup, that's the guy. Some had criticized Lavin for seeing the kid once and taking a chance on him. He's shooting almost .40 from 3pt range and his numbers are solid. I think we could have used him on this team with our lack of depth and shooting. Maybe Lavin was on to something and was right about the kid that not many were interested in.

Lavin saw the kid and liked what he saw. Unfortunately, Perez either was injured during that particular game or the next game. I can't quite remember. I guess Lavin wanted to see more of Perez before officially pulling the trigger on him. If Perez hadn't injured his ankle then he might've ended up with St. John's. Who knows!?!

It does seems like Perez is playing pretty well at the moment.

I watched most of the second half of the Pitt game and you could see Pitt was having some trouble with Wagner's pressure. It was Wagner's first win over a ranked opponent since November of 1978. A long time coming.
