Gonzaga (ranked #2 last year) and Baylor (ranked #5) are two good examples of teams who were mentioned as possible final four contestants last year with no 5 star players and in Baylor's case not many 4 star players. Interestingly Baylor is rated with #5 class for 2021 confirming that success on the court leads to success on the recruiting trail.

The Zags consistently live in the 4 star range. They do get the occasional 5 star transfer.
Yeah, you can find the occasional team that hits the high note for a season with 2 and 3 star recruits but year in and out the teams with the 4 and 5 star recruits are in the top 25.
Lets hope that St. John's is able to stop with the 2 star recruits and is able to attract 4 star and an occasional 5 star recruit.

He said he wants to bring sju a championship, he also knows that's not happening with 2 and 3 star recruits.

Wealth don't buy happiness, but it does allow you to chose your own misery
As a fan base we need to come down to reality. We will never get consistent 5 star recruits. We have to do the best we can with the others and their development.
