Amar Has Returned

He's not going to move the needle very much one way or the other, I just really enjoy watching a kid who enjoys basketball and loves being at St. John's as much as Amar does. Welcome back Amar!

I am happy he is back.

If Amar could control his emotions on the court and play with confidence and a level head he could be a really asset as a stretch 4.

I've always paid attention to what goes on on the bench and in the huddle. This kid has always been a phenomenal positive energy supporting teammates. I don't hang on social media, but I've read some of his twitter feed, and he is SJU through and through.

I've spoken to some people in the athletic department and they say he is honestly the nicest kid who when asked will happily meet a fan, a kid, a donor take pictures, chat, sign an autograph.

When in Maui an AD member was sitting alone on the beach. When Amar and Mussini spotted him alone, both came up and asked if they could hang out there, doing it completely out of graciousness. He may or may not contribute much going forward, but there is no question he's a great kid, and all fans have picked up on that. I'm really happy he is back.

On the court, he did slam a vicious one hand grab of a rebound down in a garden game late in the season. Maybe he can catch lightning in a bottle and have another game like Syracuse up his sleeve.

I have as much confidence that he can become a toaster

Mo he will contribute a lot. He knows the players, knows our system and with confidence he can shootnad be productive

If you are an Owens fan, this is best scenario for you. Livingston was going to eat into Owens' time. Now, Owens is the third big man and we get plenty to opportunity to see what he can do. Also, it seems like it's not AA for Livingston straight up, but rather AA and Williams for Livingston. I'm willing to wait to see what a supposedly healthy Williams offers before going nuts.

I do think that if you bring AA back though, don't screw with him after next season. Or at the very least, strongly urge him to take a full slate of summer classes starting in a few weeks. At least that way, he possibly graduates and gets a year of his MBA done at a mid-major.

First let me say I think Amar is a good kid who has represented St. John's well.

However, this is a failure by the staff (Chris, Slice and Matt). No way should we be satisfied with Amar coming back. We needed someone who can rebound, defend and score just a bit. Nothing special. In his time at St. John's Amar has only shown flashes of doing some things expected at the Big East level. He has not done anything consistently well. The simple fact that we could not find a decent replacement is a concerning sign for the program.
