Your relationships with so many hoops alums is tremendous my friend! I am sure our new AD will have a chat or two with you re: how the program can better recognize so many players who have given us great memories over the years. Way to go man!
Wow Artest would be huge...when is last time he came on campus?
Same, immediate, thought. Great news!

He was on campus for an event that Tyrone Grant had in Spring 2017. Tyrone has an after school program, Team First that help middle and grade school children through tutoring, sports participation, and traveling to college campuses, museums, and other venues.

WE SHOULD ALWAYS ANNOUNCE THE NANES OF FORMER PLAYERS WHO ARE AT A GAME!
A few years ago I met Jeff Allen of our “Twin Tiwer” fame (with Bill Wennington) and I bet most in attendance did not even
Know he was present...not so good

I gave this idea to Norms crew back in maybe their second year and Casey said they would look into it and nothing happened. Our school needs to do much better job keeping or recognizing former players. I’d still like announcements during time outs etc and calling out players at the game no matter how big a star. I think that would go over well with the fans

Tyrone's after school program is about to blow up with some major corporate donors backing him to open in other cities. It's an amazingly good thing.

Great to see this kind of stuff. I always liked Tyrone as he was a real blue collar player and glad to see he is doing such great things. It's always fun to see the former players who are coming to the alumni game. Nice to see that Barkley & Artest are possible; now if we could only get Bootsy & Postell to play. That was my favorite Johnnie team of all time.

While he never had the opportunity to suit up, I’m happy to see Rob Thomas was invited to play in the game. Anyone know what happened to him after the scandal was revealed? Perhaps I’ve been a little naive, but the story always made me sad.

Rob Thomas was never involved in any scandal.. He hurt himself during his red shirt year and as never the same player. However he did contribute in a few games. He graduated and now works for the City of New York Dept of Homeless Services. He recently received a promotion. He is a prime example of perseverance. We should all be proud of his accomplishments.

These are the types of things I love coming on this site and reading. Job well done Panther!

My apologies. I was thinking of Keith Thomas, who was involved with the Westchester CC transcript scandal.

In the Norm era the school did a terrible job with basketball alumni outreach, when Sergio Luyk died of cancer at age 36 I believe school failed to put anything up on their website. When I mentioned it to the SID at the time he was very curt and inconsiderate and told me to reach out to LC. Thankfully he is no longer part of the SJU community.

So agree on how little the school did in that one. Same for Tyler Jones. Even though he transferred he still had many in the school community who cared about it and he did play here.

Did not know where to put this, but am sure folks will have caption suggestions :)
