You have to respect an admire a guy who bets on himself. He walked away from a huge contract, went out there and delivered like Mickey Mantle in a FedEx uniform. He got the obscene payday of $40 million per, guaranteed, for 9 years... and all I can think is "he got suckered into a bad contract". He is the entire Yankee lineup these days - if he's not dropping the gavel, then the lineup is in lock up. It's unfortunate that the braintrust behind his contract negotiations were somewhat lacking, bordering on inept. He really should have sought better counseling, somebody who understood the NY market, big bucks, and savvy bargaining skills... somebody who's been around the financial block. Of course you realize I'm talking about...
