ACC May Finally Be Accepting Reality Re: MSG

When asked by Andy Katz about bringing the ACC Tourney to NYC, Swofford said it's "venue dependent". Sounds a lot like "if we could we would but we can't". Syracuse, Pitt & Notre Dame, enjoy the country roads and your Deny's pre & post game meals for years to come during the month of March. Then again, given the location of these schools, they may be used to that already.

"I’m so used to the same gyms for three or four years. Now I’m going to college gyms. In the Big East, you had a lot of NBA arenas like St. Johns (at Madison Square Garden) and Marquette (at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee)" – Notre Dame G Eric Atkins, at today's ACC Media Days, on transitioning to a new conference (BALTIMORESUN.com, 10/16).

They got enough revenue splits to pay the pro arenas in their cities rent.

Instead of pocketing that money, put it back into the school if it's that big of a deal.

These guys are a joke. They'll milk MSG until they're dead. Makes me wish we stopped scheduling these fools.

I know in college football, when big time schools host a smaller school, they pay the smaller school a substantial amount of money to come play them.

That is what SJU needs to start doing. Up the amount of money for them to play us. Millions. They can pay our MSG rent for us. You want to play at MSG Notre Dame? Sure. Just make sure you cut that check first.

Great News- Still need a turn out at MSG for the conference tournament. Empty seats will have the Garden looking to get out.

There will always be empty seats. Especially for early round/day games. Key is making sure all 10 teams can get rid of their roughly 2k seat allotment. Shouldnt be hard at all.

I remember scrounging around for tickets to an opening round game against Marquette a few years back. Guy my daughter knows (with some connection to MSG) got us two tix in the very last row in a corner section. The place was packed. Ten teams should easily sell out a 19,000 seat arena. Every game may not be packed but all the tickeets will be sold. Cuse fans who can't make it down to Tobacco Road can come watch some of our games.

Moose- don't you think MSG will be concerned though if tickets sold but empty seats which will mean lower sales for concessions - specifically beer that those Syracuse and UConn fans are known to take down.

No. It's natural. Most big tourneys are like that in early rounds. We are losing Cuse and their fans and while a lot its one predominant team. I don't see it as much and then again when we expand to 12 which I see happening no matter the PC quotes from yesterday that will make it even easier.

Why would notre dame ever pay us millions to play at MSG? Have you seen how many college games that don't involve us are played at MSG every year now? They can just go play in the meinike classic or some other bs game.
Everyone who wants to can play at MSG, and it's usually not against us.

1. SJu is not a small time mid-major.
2.Football teams do this to lure small teams come to their home to play
