Academic Progress Rates released- SJU last in BE

Wow we are awful. At least we are a little better than U Conn.
What's the number that you get a postseason ban for?

It is last for a 3 year period because SJU had a 900 last year. They actually had a 1000, perfect score, for 2012-13.

It is a phony stat. It has little to do with actual academic excellence.

SJU was hurt 2 years ago when Harkless left early and withdrew from school thus costing them 2 points for retention and staying in line to graduate.

With a limited roster (remember they had like 6 scholarship players 2 years ago so they had limited total points) that hurt them for that one year thus dragging down the overall 3 year moving average score.

You could have 8 phi-beta kappa’s and 3 kids leave early and withdraw from school before Spring Semester ends and you will get hurt badly with your APR. In other words you could have the highest cumulative GPA in the NCAA’s with your kids taking Chemistry, Law and Pre-Med classes and your APR would still be poor.

Who gives a rat's arse about academic excellence on the basketball team? Whether you like it or not this is what the NCAA uses to determine post season eligibility which is what as basketball fans we are concerned with. You would defend a mass murderer by pointing out how he helped the economy by all the guns he bought.

That isn't the point, there are consequences to getting low scores. So it does matter. My point is as noble as it is it is a poor way to measure it.

My point was there are consequences so I guess somehow we are in total agreement. Not really sure how "noble" your point was though! :)
