A history lesson from Creighton fans

The thing about getting older is that long term memory works just fine, short term not so well.

We regale each other with near perfect clarity of exploits of games 30 years ago or more.

We forget what happened recently and here's a great example:

Three years ago , just one season after Doug McDermott led Creighton to a very fine season, the team.got off to a 10-3 start. 10-3, sound familiar?

Then disaster struck. 9 straight losses 0-8 in the big east. St. John's coming to town. Good Johnny team, heading to tourney. Goid reason for fans to stay home.

Omaha Nebraska, population 411,000. Creighton university, home arena 17,500. You might hear crickets, right? Wrong.

17,500 fans showed up, and were LOUD from the opening tap. The result. A 77-74 win over our st johns red storm.

Great fans, these Creighton loyalists are. Of course we have bad history , lots of it, but 9 straight losses didnt dampen these great fans. They showed up in the cold , and it force.

I don't know if we will win, but if the next win comes at home, I will be there to celebrate for our guys. Hey who knows, maybe one day our fan base will be as supportive as Creighton's.

Maybe tomorrow our guys pay Creighton back for 3 years ago

Good find Beast.

I thought they had several tough losses too, but searching back at the results it looked like they lost most of them by wide margins.

It's crazy that DePaul at CA was the only game where it felt like the Johnnies were out of it early. Even PC was close till Ponds went to the bench.
