... The St. John's Redmen were the last team invited to the NCAA Tournament field (which was at 40 teams back then).

They wound up going on a heck of a run, just missing the Final Four (2-point loss to Penn in the Regional Final).

My father (former poster "Big Daddy") texted me about this last night when the brackets were revealed...would love to recapture that magic...win a few and send former player Tariq Owens packing on Black Sunday 2019 (though will be hard to beat multiple underdogs knocking off Duke and UNC on the same day...)!
