40 Minutes of Hell

Just finished watching a great documentary on Nolan Richardson's Arkansas Razorbacks from the early 90s. The waves of defensive pressure this team put on their opponents was incredible. It got me thinking about our team and the depth we will be having this upcoming season. We should be able to send waves and play full court pressure D for 40 minutes. This year we will be exciting and we should do some damage! Can't Wait!!!

Agree. They know they can play their hearts out and still get a breather. Haven't had this in years.

There have been many teams that COULD play that style but only N Richardson truly has coached 40 min of hell. Name escapes me but the Mizzo coach in previous stops has come closest. Easier said than done. it takes tremendous dedication and a mentality that is hard to come by. We get a few athletes and all of a sudden we are supposed to have the best D since the 85 Bears? I'll settle for 40 minutes of heck.

I thought with the title of this thread it was about Norm's 2nd half collapse against hofstra a few years ago

Are you thinking about former Mizzou head man, Mike Anderson? He's a protege' of Richardson.

Yes. Thanks. Couldn't remember his name either because it is the off season or old age starting to creep in. Forgot he was protege' of Richardson but it figures. Not just anyone can get this done otherwise more would do it. It is sort of like saying i will copy and coach like coach K and expecting the same results-almost impossible to duplicate although i like the style and wouldn't mind trying but don't think we have the guards to do it in terms of quickness, strength and athleticism but that's just my opinion.

I liked the Tulane style of 40 minutes of hell from the 90's. Forget the year but they would sub all 5 starters after the 1st 5 minutes, and the guys would come in and foul the crap out of people.

It was during the '91-'92 season. The year they knocked us out of the 1st round of the NCAA Tournament.

That style of play is exciting (unless it was GU playing it aginast us in the 1980s). If this group can pull that off, that would be great, and fun to watch. Have greathope for this bunch and think we will be dancin' in March.

This years team never goes full court press. Even when it’s the only chance to get back in the game. He doesn’t do it. This years team just never learns from their mistakes. And that is because of Mike Anderson’s coaching style.

It’s hard to believe they rarely press this season
