3 Point Defense

I have not read all the messages and I'm sure this has been covered, but our inability to defend the 3-point line is mind-boggling at this point. Either it isn't being taught, or our guys simply aren't absorbing the instruction. This team had nobody that could hurt us inside, so why aren't we getting right up on shooters and forcing the drive? We have one of the nation's best shot blockers to help make up for getting beaten off the dribble. Brutal 19-2 run to start the game included 5 3's on 5 open looks. We don't fight through screens, our big men don't hedge properly, we are slow to rotate, we leave unnecessary space, and so on. Why when we have two of the better 3 point shooters in the history of the sport is this stuff not getting cleaned up? I simply do not understand.

Let me help you understand. Mullin can’t coach. He is turning out to be a mistake hire. Other teams know this weakness and will intentionally attempt more 3 point shots on us. Mullin will be another great player who couldn’t coach.

What is mind boggling is that after losing ten in a row this team still leads the big east in over all field goal % D, blocks and steals.

Every team comes in taking 30 plus threes and yet still manage to go to the line more frequently. How does that happen? Worn down defenders?

With this said, I think that If this team executed on the offensive end and shot better, the 3 point D would be a minor point. The people who highlighted the low shooting % from the field when this team won were right. This team has not shot well all year. It is the difference maker.
